Q: Why are my images upside down?

On rare occasions, despite your best efforts, an image may display upside down even if it looks properly oriented on your computer or phone. This has been reported to us primarily by iPhone users when they view their app after adding images they have taken themselves.

The cause has to do with something called EXIF or Exchangeable image file format tags that your smartphone uses to set the format for images, including orientation. This is usually caused by the angle that you are taking your photo, for example taking a photo in landscape, upside down, or "selfie" mode.

For whatever reason, this can happen from time to time. Just know, your app is not "broken"-- this has to to with how the photo was taken. No matter why it happens, here's how to fix it:

On a PC:

1. Go to the web version of your app and locate the upside down image

2. Right-click the image and save it to your computer

3. Open the photo with Microsoft Paint (standard image viewer editing won't work)

4. Rotate the image 360 degrees (yes, we mean that!)

5. Save the image as a jpeg (it may try to default to a HEIC file)

6. Re-upload the image to the Content Portal

On a Mac:

1. Go to the web version of your app and locate the upside down image

2. Right-click the image and save it to your computer

3. Open the photo with Preview

4. Rotate the image 360 degrees (yes, we mean that!)

5. Save the image as a jpeg (it should autosave)

6. Re-upload the image to the Content Portal
