How-to Add Video Content

Quick Access Guide


Step 1: Access the Video List 

While in the Content Portal, go to the Content tab and select> Videos


This will pull up the 'Video List.' The 'Video List' will populate as you add more and more video content to it. To add video content, left click on the [Add Video] button to get to the 'New Video' Form




Step 2: Filling Out The 'New Video' Form




  1. Video Name: Enter the name of your video here. NOTE: There is a 60 character limit
  2. Video URL: Insert the video URL or Upload the video directly. 
  3. Image URL: Insert the image URL or Upload the image directly.
    NOTE: The Video and Image that you directly upload to the Content Portal, cannot be downloaded again later using the UPDATE button. Keep a copy saved outside the Content Portal (see Edit/Update a Video)
  4. Description: Add either a video description, transcript or some other related text here. TIP: Adding URLs in the description will not work in the App View. App user's cannot click on URLs and follow them to a website. They will be forced to manually copy the link if they want to view a URL you list in the description. For that reason, we recommend using the CTA area when you want to send the user to a specific link. 
  5. Release Date: The default release date will be whatever the current date is. If you would like the content to release at a later date, you can make that adjustment here. NOTE: A release date must be chosen in order to submit the content
  6. Call to Action Text: Add you CTA text here. NOTE: There is a 50 character limit. Can be left blank
  7. Call to Action URL: Add you CTA URL here. NOTE: Can be left blank
  8. Featured?: By turning this button on (turns blue when on) the video content will be featured on the home screen area of the app. The content is not featured (default state) when turned off. NOTE: You can only feature one video. If you have toggled this button on for multiple videos, the app will continue to feature the first one it was turned on for. If no video is featured, a 'no content message appears when going to the featured video area. For this reason, we recommend you always have featured content. 
  9. Topics: In order for your video content to appear in the app, it must live under a topic or directory listing (except featured content). This is where you select what topic/listing you want your video to appear under. NOTE: (1) To select a topic/listing, you must have already created the topic/listing name in the content portal. (2) If you get to this step and realize you don't have the topic/listing created yet, don't worry. Submit the 'new video' content without it, because you can add the topic later - by editing the content.

    How-to select the topic: If you have already created the topic/listing, left click in the Topics Box area. To find the topic/listing you want, you can either:
    1. scroll down until you find it
    2. begin typing its name in the box. NOTE: That you only need to type as much of the name as is required for it to appear in the list. This will vary depending on how many topics you have created and how similarly they are named
  10. Sort Order: Use sort order to organize how your content appears in the app. NOTE: The default sort order is 1. The video content will sort according to the numerical value you give it first, followed by alphabetically if multiple content is given the same number

    How-to use sort order: If you left mouse click in the sort order box and delete the current number in order to type your own, it will automatically add a zero in front of whatever number you type. For this reason we recommend using one of the following two methods for adding the correct number that you want to type. 
    1. use the up/down arrows that appear in the far right of the box when you hover your mouse over the box
    2. highlight the number in the box by either using your mouse or using your keyboard to select-all (PC: Ctrl + A | Mac: Command + A) then type the number you want
  11. Tags: Functions the same way as the Topics box, except you are searching for Tags instead. NOTE: (1) The default tag is to have no tag selected. If you do want a Tag, it must already have been created for you to select it. (2) You are not required to select a tag in order to submit content. (3) You can come back and add/or modify a tag after you have submitted the 'new video' form 


Step 3: The App View


Once your content has been submitted and properly connected to a Topic/Directory Listing, you will be able to view it in the app. We will now show you how the content you enter in the form appears in the app and we will give you some explanation of the user experience based on choices you make, as well as what you can expect as normal. *If you are having trouble getting the content to appear at all, check out our trouble-shooting page here.



The 3 images above are from top to bottom - The 'Content Portal View' (portal area), Subtopic-Video List 'App View' (subtopic area) & Video 'App View' (video area). Here is how each of the parts connect:

  1. Video Name: Appears in Bold, in two places. In the subtopics area and in the video area. 
  2. Video URL: Found in video area. Viewable once the user clicks on the video.
    User Experience: Video size & cell reception will affect how quickly the video loads. Videos added can be shot in either Portrait or Landscape mode. Video automatically loads in Portrait mode. If the video was shot in Landscape mode, the user will need to have Auto Rotate turned on in order to properly watch the video. 
  3. Image URL: Appears as a small thumbnail image in the subtopic area. If no image is added, then the default image is the app logo. 
    User Experience: For a more professional look, we suggest adding an image that relates to the video or Topic/Listing area *<--add hyperlink here*. 
  4. Description: Appears in the subtopics area & video area. While the description can be very long in the video area, there is a character limit for the subtopics area. That limit is approximately 135 characters.
    User Experience: For the best user experience we suggest making the first part of the description a short (135 characters or less) intro of the video content. Added after this short summary might be a longer companion guide to the video, or perhaps a transcript of the video itself. 
  5. Call to Action Text: The CTA text appears at the bottom of the video area. There is a 50 character limit to this text. 
    User Experience: The text prompt will of course vary depending on the URL you attach to it. 
  6. Call to Action URL: The URL is hidden within the CTA button and will activate when the user taps on the button. If no URL is attached, then nothing happens when a user taps on the button. *Note that there is no way to redirect the user to somewhere else in the app. 
    User Experience: All URLs will open a new window within the app that will display the content of that URL. The user can get back to the app by tapping the back icon: < (May appear differently on some phones). 


  • Release Date: This does not appear in the App View anywhere, but instead determines on what date the content will become visible to the app user. 
  • Featured?: If the Featured button has been toggled on in the form, then the video will be displayed in the video featured section of the app. Found on the home page area, when tapping on the video icon.
  • Topics: In order for the video content that you created to be visible in the app, it must live somewhere. There are 3 places that the video content can appear:
    1. In the Featured area of the app (see Featured)
    2. In the Topics area of the app (see Topics)
    3. In the Listing are of the app (see Directory Listings)

           User Experience: What you choose here will decide where the video shows up in the app and thus how your user finds and interacts with the content. You should always have a featured video, but beyond that, your app does not need to have any video content in it, if you don't want it to. Since video is the number one media that people interact with today, we highly recommend that you include video content in your app. Whether it lives under a Topic or Directory Listing is relative to what you feel is the best structure and presentation method for your brand and content.

  • Sort Order: The sort order for 'New Video' Form only affects the 'video' subtopics area in the app. However, it also decides how the content is ordered in the Content Portal. If you have many videos connected to a single Topic/Listing, and especially if your want your content to appear in a particular order, then the Sort Order is how you decide what that will look like. *Sort order has a maximum of 500 numbers
    User Experience: Content presentation is very important. It is how the user easily finds what they are looking for and also how they experience your app's content in the order that you want them to experience it in. To best curate the user experience that you are going for, we recommend you utilize the sort order function to its fullest. Using Sort Order<--add hyperlink
  • Tags: The tags will affect whether the content is visible or not in your app, and to whom it is visible to. By selecting 'no tag' (the default state), the content will be visible to anyone that downloads the app. By selecting the 'FREE' tag, only users that have gone through the Register/login process will have access to the content. By adding any other tag, the content will only become visible if the user chooses to use the unlock code associated with that tag.
    User Experience: In order to encourage maximum engagement in your app we recommend using a combination of all these possibilities to create a more powerful user experience. 


Step 4: Edit/Update Video Content


The last thing we will be looking at is how you can Edit or Delete video content after you have created it. 


Finding the Video Content you want to Edit:
When you are on the 'Video List' page in the Content Portal, you will see a search box in the upper right hand corner. You can manually scroll through your video list to find the video you want to edit, or you can use the search function. You can also toggle the sort order area (clicking on the up & down arrows) to change the order from ascending to descending and visa-versa.

When using the search box, you need only to began typing the name of the video you are looking for and it will automatically begin eliminating the options until only the name of your video remains. The search box only applies to the video name.


Deleting a Video:

While in the 'Video List' area, you can delete an entire video if you want to. You need only click on the trash can icon to the far right of the video name. Once you click on the trash can, you will be prompted to confirm that you truly want to delete the content. You confirm yes (by clicking the delete button) or no (by clicking the cancel button). Once the content has been deleted, it cannot be recovered again. 


Edit/Update a Video:

Find the video that you want to make a change to in the 'Video List' area. Click on the UPDATE button, on the far right-hand side. Once you select your video, you will be taken to the 'Edit Video' area, with the video content already filled in. From here you can make any changes that you want to in any of the fields on the form. Giving you the same options as when you first created the video. If you like the changes that you made, click Submit. If you do not, click Cancel and the content will revert back to what it was before you began making the changes.

If you click Submit, there is no way to recover the earlier version(s). So save any content you think you might want later in a separate document outside of the Content Portal. NOTE: The Images and Videos that were directly uploaded to the Content Portal, cannot be downloaded again later using the UPDATE button. That means that if you make a change to the Image or Video by deleting &/or replacing it, that content will be lost forever if you do not have it saved outside the Content Portal already. If you used a URL, then you can copy the URL out of the Content Portal at a later time, if needed.
